of Ghana registered under the Ghana Football Association and as a limited liability company under the company’s code in Ghana. Our core mandate is to train and develop the talent for football in young boys, to instill discipline good morals in trainees.
Established in 1996, BYF Academy is the only indigenous second tier club in the Amansie East Municipality since 1957. It is a local club with support from all opinion leaders in the municipality including the Nana Bekwaihene (The Bekwai Chief), the Municipal Chief Executive and the First Deputy Speaker of Ghana and member of Parliament for the Bekwai Constituency.
Formed as a colts club in 1996, the club with over 80 talented football kids organized the first ever colts league in Bekwai.
With sub-teams like Bafana Bafana, AC Milan, Juventus and Asec Mimosas, all under the umbrella of BYF Academy, the first ever colts league in Bekwai was played in 1997.
The club after 5 years of colts football registered for the District 3rd Division League in 2002 and stayed in the league for 8 years before gaining promotion into the Regional Division Two League.
After the team’s promotion into Division Two League in 2000, the club set a target of qualifying into the national Division One League which was eventually achieved in 2016.
During the club’s journey from colts to the Division Two league, many players came along who ended up playing for top clubs in Ghana.
Mubarak Sinare, an enterprising midfielder of the club ended up playing for Mighty Jets in the Ghana Premier League with Samuel Azumah and Hambali Abdina playing for Wa All Stars while George Asamoah played for Berekum Arsenal.
While in the Division One League, BYF Academy has produced players like Isaac Mintah who played for Wa All Stars and New Edubiase United, Samuel Frimpong of Asante Kotoko and Richard Berko and Thomas Gyawu, both of Karela United.
